In some ways post-dubstep is in fact a devolution, a 10 year trip backwards to reappraise UK Garage as it might have existed with different technology and more adventurous personnel, albeit into a more receptive critical environment. Four Tet’s seen it all – Kieran Hebden may well be looked back on as the architect of the attractive denouement British electronic music has reached. This compilation, then, is a vital primary source for understanding the UKG influence on 4T’s pan-electronic sound, and, needless to point out, a total party monster.
