Well, everyone is WRONG, honey! Because BREADLINE brings ‘It’s Always Your Bleedin’ Own’ to Project Arts Centre this December. A celebration of the beating heart of Dublin’s inner city, ‘It’s Always Your Bleedin’ Own’ is the unfiltered, hilarious, and gut-punching story of the intertwined lives of Kian, Amber & Dazzy.
It’s time to look past the riots and narratives that are sold to you about D1 and come and hear the real story – where resilience meets humour and grit meets glamour. It’s Always Your Bleedin’ Own is both a cautionary tale and a love letter to Dublin’s North Inner City, as the play follows the lives of three big characters from Dublin’s North Inner City. Lower the rents, open the clubs and let them have a bop!
The Plot
Amber Greene’s wedding to Big Mick from the RA is fast approaching and she hasn’t found the most important piece of the puzzle – the guna. She’s her eyes set on Central Saint Martins graduate and Dublin’s homegrown talent Kian Harris – or “the rough and ready lovechild of John Galliano and Alexander McQueen” as British Vogue have christened him. Kian is apprehensive about being brought back across the Irish Sea and back to his past but Amber is insistent. Will he be able to face his history to deliver a divine gown to D1’s no 1?
Meanwhile, Dazzy Whelan is trying to come to terms with the trauma of losing a child and, at the same time, jump-start his relationship with Marni Dunleavy (the only jewel in the corned beef faced Dunleavy family crown). However Dazzy, like Kian, has an interest in Amber Greene’s clothes, but less to do with making them and more to do with taking hers off, honey. As the plans for Amber’s wedding to Big Mick from the RA get more and more extravagant, the passion between Amber and Dazzy is also getting more extravagant. Dazzy thought Amber was just a bit of fun but now, he thinks he loves her.

Written by TKB, Directed by Ronan Phelan and starring self-proclaimed townies Ericka Roe, Lloyd Cooney and Cameron Hogan, ‘It’s Always Your Bleedin’ Own’ is a tale of family, friendship, betrayal, youth in crisis, a yearning to escape and a fear of going back. It’s high octane, high energy, high drama and moves at break-neck speed and also acts as a call to get your glad rags on and get out and keep the city lit this Christmas.

It’s Always Your Bleedin’ Own is a standalone show, but it is also part of the St. May’s Mansions Trilogy that includes Say Nothin’ To No One and Well That’s What I Heard. These plays may live in the same chaotic universe, but they’re total independent icons. You can see one, skip another… but wouldn’t it be nice to experience the full trilogy?
On Saturday, 7th December you can go full theatre buff and experience one or both readings of Vol 1 & Vol 2 of the Trilogy before settling in for the show that evening.
