Introduction

HKM Media Ltd/Totally Partner Ltd [from now an referred to as ‘HKM/Totally Partner’] use cookies and similar technologies to personalise content, provide you with relevant ads, provide social media features and to analyse user’s interaction with our service and our ads.

This cookie policy describes which cookies we use and why we use them. It also informs you of your legal rights regarding cookies and how you can take action within those rights.

This policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we use personal information. If you have any questions related to the way we use cookies please contact us at info@hkm.ie.

About Cookies

A cookie is a small text file which is stored on the user’s computer, or sometimes on our server, which is used to store everything from personal settings to user interaction with different parts of our site. We use this data to better understand our users so that we can create better experiences.

First Party Cookies vs Third Party Cookies

Cookies sent to you from the site you visit are referred to as first-party cookies. Cookies sent from another organization that provides services to the site are referred to as third-party cookies. Third-party cookies can include functions such as analytics and statistics (e.g. Google analytics), advertisements (e.g. Google display ads) or cross-site functionality (e.g. Facebook).

The cookies are saved on your device for different lengths of time depending on the type of information that is saved. You can view the length of time for any cookie in our comprehensive cookie list on your personalized cookie settings page.

Session Cookies vs Permanent Cookies

There are two kinds of cookies – session cookies and permanent cookies. A session cookie is sent to your computer to ensure that our service work properly during your visit. A session cookie is not stored on your computer hard drive and disappears when you close your browser.

A permanent cookie is stored on your computer so that, for example, a web page can recognize your computer’s IP address and thus your browser the next time you log in.

We use both session cookies and permanent cookies on our websites. They are mainly needed for the functionality of our services, to help us improve our delivery of products and services, provide you with extra functionality or to help us target relevant and customized ads to you.

Cookies and Your Personal Data

Cookies normally don’t contain any personal information. They don’t scan your computer or do any kind of investigation to find out your personal information. Any personal information they might contain is a result of your own input in to a form, a click on a button or some other kind of interaction where you have consented to personal data being stored with a third party data controller (e.g. Facebook).

Regarding third party services, HKM/Totally Partner is a joint data controller along with the third party service provider. However, this third party service provider is the sole data processor of this data, so any questions about how they handle your data and what they do with it will need to be directed to that particular provider.

Your Consent

The law supports us storing cookies on your device without your explicit consent, if they are strictly necessary for basic functionality of the website. For all other types of cookies we require your explicit consent. We have tried to make it easy for our users to allow or reject cookies as they see fit.

This is done in the slide-down form that appears on your first visit to the website. The form gives you the option to accept or reject different groups of cookies, except for the ones deemed necessary.

Important note! In the next update we will improve this consent form so the user can accept or reject, any or all cookies. We anticipate that this update will be rolled out in November 2020.

Changing Your Consent

If you want to change your selection(s) after the fact, you can review and edit your consent settings if you follow this link or the click the buttons toward the top or bottom of this page. There you can also view our cookie list to examine every cookie that is used on the website. We do our utmost to update the list as soon as possible when changes occur.

Cookie Control in Your Browser

You can delete, block or allow cookies directly in most modern web browsers. You can also use your web browser’s private function – often called ‘Private window’ or ’Incognito mode’. However, an internet browser can’t detect every single type of cookie so we suggest you don’t rely on this alone for handling cookies on your device.

We refer you to your browser’s official documentation/manual for instructions on how to view and handle cookies in your browser and/or using the private function.

Managing Your Cookies
