It was a long overdue epiphany which saw the Strokes give up on their mediocre solo albums and what have you to re-unite with a bang! Despite the hiatus, the guys thankfully didn’t feel the need to reinvent themselves, Under Cover of Darkness wouldn’t have sounded out of place on their last album. My only critique is that they’ve suddenly adopted a very Vampire Weekend jangle to their guitar now, but I’m not angry with them, it works. I have great expectations for their new album Angels which is due for release on March 22nd, I have a sneaking suspicion it’s set to become one of the biggest albums of this Summer which ‘under cover of darkness’ being an amazing lead in.
