Subplots

Autumning

[Cableattack!!]

The influence of late period Radiohead can still be keenly felt on bands of the following generation, as witnessed in last year’s excellent Dandelion EP by Cloud Castle Lake. It’s certainly evident on Subplots’ second full-length – by no means a bad thing, of course – but their aesthetic, floating tensely between low-energy electronica and moody indie, never quite escapes their shadow. While Autumning is really delicately executed, it’s a record crying out for a rogue move, a left-turn, a ‘something Radiohead wouldn’t do’ moment.
