The nine songs on this record were composed via a system created by Six Organs of Admittance mastermind Ben Chasny involving a deck of cards and other randomised elements to dictate chord usage, dynamics and structure choices. With the aid of Rob Fisk on bass and Noel Von Harmonson on drums, the result sounds surprisingly cohesive, coming on like a freer take on Chasny’s old band Comets on Fire’s blown out fuzz jams, and reflects his desire to simply ‘make a rock record’.
