Like knowing the sex of the baby after the first ultrasound, Panda Bear’s combination of (oft-bootlegged) live sets of new material and drip-drab release of 7″ singles over the last year meant that the impact of Tomboy-as-album initially suffered due to its extended hype gestation. But after all the blood and mucus are wiped away, this little creature is screaming bundle of soulful pop joy, leaving Lennox’s legion of imitators scrambling to catch up yet again.
