Longform

With their choice of new single it seems The Dodos want to bring a little bit of their native San Fran sunshine into our lives, or perhaps they’re trying to punish us as we shiver our way through this bleak December. Either way, there’s something about ‘Longform’ which immediately evokes memories of those too-short three months of summer. From the lilting strums of the acoustic guitar at the beginning to the airy way it skips over its three minutes 45 seconds duration, the track is typical Dodos fare and unknowingly reels you into their light psychedelia, albeit all too briefly. To hammer the summertime reminiscing home even further, the band have created a road trip-themed video awash with the colours of June, July and August. At the same time, the conviviality of the song is tinged with a subtle note of sadness to match the inevitable sentiment of the listener. Both an aural and visual treat for the SAD sufferers out there, the Dodos get bonus points for the nostalgia factor alone.
