“Come Back” from Depeche Mode’s upcoming album Sounds of the Universe is a sign that the thirty-year-old band is showing its age. The song is predictably electronic New Wave, but proceeds slowly, sluggishly, and easily fades into the background of 2009’s more anticipated releases. With their single “Come Back” Depeche Mode comes across as old men riding a worn out horse. The only question left to ask is how far it can continue to carry them.
