Saboteurs of their own legacy of actually-quite-ingenuous rock built up by their exemplary first two releases (damn, we’ll even take Knocked Up from the third album), CAS is not so much another classic rock-shaped nail in that coffin as a firm shove into the crematorium. Sundown is entirely unrecognizable from Youth and Young Manhood, edging closer on some sort of hideous barometer towards Aerosmith. You’ll need heavy-duty cotton bud to scrape the cynicism out of your ears. -DG
