John Maus
Screen Memories
[Domino]
John Maus’ music yields polarising opinions.
It was once suggested that the lo-fi lethargic avant-pop synth led arrangements were “engineered for minimal accessibility and maximum pretension.”
Screen Memories ends six years of silence characterised by a critical reappraisal of his output.
The focus of his latest album – brimming with baroque, modular synth designed – is devoted to the myriad of transportative sonic components which transport the listener to the soundtrack of futuristic game shows from the 1980s, in the best possible way.
