Sending you Some Lungs

[Apartment Records]

Kenny Hanlon’s Apartment Records celebrates its decennial release in the form of a club-ready four tracker from Pittsburgh producer Chase Smith.

A-side’s ‘Mariana’ is an excellent cut of weighty electro-tinged techno that sees the Dublin imprint explore heavier territories than previously chartered thus far.

Likewise with B1, the aptly named ‘1-900-909-CREEP’ is a fully RMTO peak-time number, it’s relentless drums hammering around a twisted acid line and inaudible vocal stabs.

Both the instrumental and vocal mixes of Sending you Some Lungs are reminiscent of the pre-’84 Italo hey-day, the tracks’ dual sense of melancholy and euphoria perfectly balanced to create a timeless slice of synth pop.
