If you’re going to blur the lines of electronica, you might as well use the characteristics of that most hazy of genres, shoegaze. Kompakt-signed duo Walls make the combination of layered guitars, glistening synth work and driving beats sound so good you’d begin wonder how no one came upon the formula before. The influence of their Cologne label on their sound is undeniable and, while they’re not exactly My Bloody Valentine with a drum machine, their pop sensibility is never in doubt. Music for sunny weather. Maybe they’ll bring the summer with them.
