Owensie

Though his name may conjure an image of the hard kid you went to primary school with, Owensie makes the kind of delicate and intelligently crafted acoustic music that can lull you to sleep. After critically acclaimed debut ‘Aliens’, filled with evocative classical guitar-based folk, he now takes on a full band of brass, guitars and drums to sample tracks from upcoming sophomore effort, ‘Citizens’.

CLU

The Dublin duo brings their audio visual extravaganza to the Twisted Pepper on Thursday. The brainchild of electronic producer Sean Cooley and Kevin A. Freeney, who takes care of the visual side of things- CLU have been making waves in the capital for the past year with their blend of dazzling post-dubstep. Recent gig highlights include playing the Forest Stage of Electric Picnic in a giant cube.

Le Galaxie

Having steadily grown from just your average danceable band to one of the most sought after live acts in the country, for Dublin synth-warriors Le Galaxie the only way to go is up. Following a string of festival appearances this summer, they headline the Meeting House Square on Friday. A glorious pastiche of flamboyant vocals, eighties guitars and iridescent synths is guaranteed to get your feet moving.

Ships

This Dublin-based electronica project have been making waves (get it…) on the dance circuit for a couple of months and now bring their mesmeric grooves and understated vocals to HWCH. It’s late night music of the highest calibre and their midnight time slot ensures that the dance-heads will find their way to the Workmans.

Jogging

Richter Collective alumni Jogging support their most recent output, ‘Take Courage’- an uncompromising combo of shouty vocals and blistering guitar riffs spliced with ingenious math rock nuances. Simply one of the loudest bands in the country right now, Jogging are renowned for their energetic performances and great beards.

And if over 100 bands worth of music isn’t enough, there are also plenty of panels and pop-up gigs taking place around the city over the three days to fill all your independent music needs. Happy 10th Birthday, HWCH.

Tickets.
