The name ‘Guilfoyle’ has been synonymous with the highest echelons of domestic jazz making for almost three decades and now, with the addition of young guitarist Chris Guilfoyle, the future is assured. Collectively, this trifecta which features Ronan Guilfoyle on acoustic bass and Conor Guilfoyle on drums, purvey their blisteringly intense, rhythmically adventurous approach to jazz and improvisation augmented here by addition of a rising star in Austrian trumpeter Gerhard Ornig. You may not be familiar with his name just yet, but that’s what the Peacock Stage excels at, unearthing & showcasing new talent. Ornig is currently making waves in Europe, winning the Grand Prix for Trumpet at the Riga Jazz Stage and touring as a trumpet player for the JMI Jazz World Orchestra.
Collectively, this new quartet, formed specifically for STRUT, will showcase one of the most invigorating live experiences jazz has to offer.
