Meteor Airlines brings Moroccan Berber Rock to Dublin

Posted 2 months ago in Gig Previews

On November 06th, 2024, the Moroccan rock band Meteor Airlines will perform in the Button Factory, Dublin as part of their AGDAL tour. This show will be a special opportunity for the band to introduce their unique sound, “Moroccan Berber Rock,” a powerful blend of traditional Berber music and modern rock.

Meteor Airlines, from Tinghir, southeast Morocco, a region known for its stunning Atlas Mountains and rich cultural heritage, released earlier this year their latest album, AGDAL—a tribute to the ancient Moroccan Berber systems of sustainable land, resource, and especially water management, which remain relevant today as the world, including the band’s home region, faces the severe impacts of climate change.

The album has been awarded the Best Artistic Practice in the MENA region by the European Union and, most recently, received the Best Moroccan Berber Modern Music Award from the Royal Institute for Amazigh Culture.

We are excited to share our music and the messages behind it with new audiences in Dublin,” says Rachid Ennassiri, manager of Meteor Airlines. “The AGDAL album is not just music; it is a call to action, urging the preservation of ecosystems and cultural heritage that are vital for our communities.”
