Katie Kim @ The Unitarian Church

Posted April 12, 2012 in Gig Previews

INO – Rigoletto – Banner Desktop – Oct 14-Dec 8

Dublin’s indie promoters seem to have struck upon a reliable new alternative space for gigs that has a little more charm than most. The Unitarian Church has already got concert style seating, a stage, a really handy location and deadly acoustics – it makes perfect sense for it to play host to some wonderful evenings worth of music, once the Unitarians don’t mind too much, and they are generally a welcoming bunch, as is the nature of Unitarianism.

The latest installment at this venue the album launch for Katie Kim’s second record Cover and Flood, the launch of which coincides with Record Store Day on April 21st[though technically its been a available for a month or so. Details.] What better time to pick up a delicious double-vinyl copy of an independent Irish release?

KK’s penchant for dark sonorous post-midnight vibes led to her being championed by Donal Dineen (amongst others) who’s sadly missed Small Hours show on Today FM provided a platform upon which the reputation of KK’s music could blossom. Dineen himself will be providing live visuals on the night for KK’s performance. Like most of these one-off gigs, best to bear in mind that the capacity of the Unitarian is pretty small so get yer mits on some tickets ASAP.
