While there’s been an awful lot of spooky music doing the rounds these past couple of years, you can look to Demdike Stare as both progenitors and masters of the occult. Two serious record collectors from Manchester, sampling the strangest of noises over flickering, pulsing beats that worm their way into your brain, staying lodged in the shadows of the mind for weeks after. This is not some half-assed hauntology, covered in triangles and hipster side-chaining, the complete aesthetic engagement that Demdike deal in is built on deep sounds and a true understanding of rhythm.
