Beatyard: Matthew Herbert & Donato Dozzy

Saturday night at the Beatyard has two equally exciting headliners. Matthew Herbert is an experimental composer with a penchant for the dancefloor. As well as making music out of things like bags of crisps, found sounds and the life/body of a pig, Herbert knows how to take a room on a trip into the realm of the weird and unexpected before blowing the spot wide open by dropping a classic disco tune of his own devising. Truly a one off producer and all-round musical thinker.

Donato Dozzy is one of our favourite producers in the world right now. His take on the shamanic elements of techno is unlike anyone else and his work with Neal on Voices From The Lake this year is the pinnacle of his aesthetic to date; their self-titled album is nothing short of a masterpiece. Working almost exclusively with deep, deep techno with lashings of soul and complex emotions, Dozzy also contributed one of our favourite mixes of the year to the Mnml Ssgs final mix series which we wholeheartedly recommend checking out. In his own words, “voodoo forever”.
