Photographer Liam Murphy and Stylist Kieran Kilgannon reveal the story behind this month’s Totally Dublin Fashion Photoshoot.

“I quite like when themes show themselves after the fact.”

“We started off wanting to make images that were vibrant and playful with different layers of interest. We had a bunch of ideas involving reflections, glass, mirrors and water.

We had a lot of fun while experimenting and combining these ideas during the shoot and then bringing them together with the collage elements in post.”

Liam Murphy, photographer

“To repeat what Liam was saying the initial idea was looking at reflections through mirrors and the transforming properties shooting through different types of glass and water could have on an image.

And then the collage work pushed that idea forward more by cutting out spaces to reveal more images, whether that be digitally or physically.

There wasn’t really a premeditated idea behind the fashion. Just what I liked from what was available from the stores but I think subconsciously there ended up being a historical factor to the looks.. in the exaggerated hips and the almost Shakespeare details in places.

None of this was intended but I quite like when themes show themselves after the fact.” – Kieran Kilgannon, stylist
