Our July cover story looks at the sketchbooks of some of fashion graduates in NCAD with photography by Ruth Connolly.
‘Battle of Flowers’ is a womenswear collection that combines sophistication and versatility. I took inspiration from my glamorous grandparents. Their honeymoon was in Jersey during ‘The Battle of Flowers’ festival in 1960. My research focuses on my grandfather’s business in fine leather glove manufacturing. I incorporated details from the gloves into my patterns, making techniques, forms and structure. Removable pockets are one of the key features in the collection. This allows customers to customise their clothing to suit their needs and preferences, making the garments functional and truly versatile. Minimal aesthetic and clean lines provide customers with elegant clothing that can be worn in a variety of ways. – Megan Thomas
The NCAD graduate show runs until Friday June 16.*
*The show might be over but you can still explore all the graduates’ work from across Design, Education, Fine Art and Visual Culture at NCAD.WORKS.
