Our July cover story looks at the sketchbooks of some of fashion graduates in NCAD with photography by Ruth Connolly.
“This unisex collection lies in my personal experience contending with the paradoxical nature of surrendering control in a tightly controlled environment. Inspired by the fragility and ambiance of undergoing invasive medical procedures and being in a sterile setting. I researched into the dissection of anatomy, focusing on the examination of organisms.
Abscission reflects this nuanced approach to anatomical study and seeks to communicate a sense of balance between control and vulnerability within a clinical environment. Abscission represents an aciurgy that enriches the streetwear scene and its culture by illuminating new perspectives and innovative approaches.
I made sure my collection not only enhances, but also embodies an intricate balance of boldness, comfort, and functionality, with oversized silhouettes and water-resistant materials that appeal to those who value both style and practicality. Through this collection, I wish to empower individuals who are unafraid to make a statement. What’s so disgusting about what lives within us?”
