Firstly, August Night is an arrestingly appealing name for a brand. Now that we’ve put that on the record can we make your acquaintance with designer Caoimhe Grant who is behind said label and has just launched her bag collection.
Designed and ethically made in Dublin, August Night bags are softly sculptural and feature distinctive details such as gentle twists, knots and generous bows.
Made from duchesse satin, Caoimhe has created two new designs – the Bow Sac and Bow Backpack – and has introduced two bright juicy colours to the range – Daffodil and Coral, which were inspired by the landscapes of artist Jean Duncan.
Originally a Derry girl, Grant was a senior womenswear designer with John Rocha for many moons. “These are everyday bags that facilitate the lifestyle of the wearer,” she says.
