Celebrating the legacy of Richard Hennessy, from Cork to Cognac

To celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of its Irish founder, Richard Hennessy, Hennessy has selected Irish artists Maser and Conor Harrington to create its historic Founder’s Edition bottle, a new Hennessy Very Special (VS) limited edition bottle.

In keeping with Hennessy’s continued support of avant-garde art and local partnerships across street fashion, art & music with the likes of Emporium, Dublin Block Party, the Future of Irish Music & Ireland’s rap duo Travis & Elzzz, the world famous brand has come home by engaging two of our best contemporary creatives to celebrate Hennessy’s 260 years of knowledge, talent, expertise and passion.

Mirroring Maser and Harrington’s artistic journeys from homegrown inspiration to international acclaim with Richard Hennessy’s own mastery and spirit of conquest, the commemorative bottle’s design embodies the process of making the perfect blend.

Combining Maser’s trademark bold colour palette and Harrington’s instinctual narrative portraiture, the two have managed to co-create a fitting homage to a taste-maker whose legacy continues to enhance with age.

Maser and Harrington spent some quality time in Maison Hennessy in Cognac, France where they observed the master blender Renaud Fillioux de Gironde at work and drew inspiration from the methodology, the finesse and the heritage of bringing grape to glass to uniquely craft their own artistic blend for this one off occasion.

Endorsing the sense of occasion, the original artwork will be displayed on the walls of Killavullen, the Cork home of Richard Hennessy, after the official launch of the limited edition bottle on October 22nd in The Mansion House, Dublin.

The Hennessy Founder’s Edition (RSP €41) will be available exclusively from SuperValu stores nationwide from September 30th and all other retailers from October 16th.
