Adrian Walshe has been operating out of the George’s Street Arcade for the past ten years. An eclectic mix of techno, rock, electronica, jazz, reggae and soul is on hand and they specialise in hard to get vinyl. Adrian reckons that the iPod may eventually bring about the death of smaller retailers like himself and also says that it’s getting harder to source good vinyl.

Claddagh Records
Coming up on its twenty-year anniversary, Claddagh Records deserves a medal for its service. They supply Dublin with the best selection of folk, traditional and ethnic available. Dealing mostly with CDs, there is also a small vinyl selection. I spoke to Mr Finbar Boyle and he says that iPods pose no real threat to business here as what they stock is really so specialised.

City Discs
A little bit of everything here but veering towards the indie, electro, and techno end of things. It’s mainly CDs with a limited selection of vinyl. The very up-to-date second hand section means that it’s hard to leave this establishment empty-handed.
