No sooner have we finished Scoop (see Roadmap 209) and its amusing look at the Irish culinary influencers from 1965 – Maura Laverty and Monica Sheridan – than its time to pick up the latest most welcome addition to the shelf. Guzzle presents 18 essays, two interviews and has commissioned a series of photographic works that respond to the theme of Mementoes of Food. Sharing stories from chaotic kitchens to dining traditions that prevail during times of sorrow, Guzzle aims to “document pivotal moments in society by telling stories through gastronomy and visual culture lenses.”
Contributors include Cathryn Bell, Jane Gleeson (its editor), Jennie Moran and Victory Nwabu-Ekeoma (Bia! Zine, Roadmap 208). A series of photographic works by Rudy DeSouza featured in the magazine are also available to purchase online.
