The legacy of ’81 – Slane Whiskey bottles its musical spirit

Posted March 9, 2022 in Food and Drink

Slane Castle has been a shrine of sorts for music fans for four decades playing to everyone from Thin Lizzy (’81) to Metallica (’19) with some memorable moments such as Springsteen, Queen and Bowie in the mid-eighties. Anyways, just like any smart-thinking Demesne owner Lord Henry Mountcharles and the Conyngham family pivoted into the world of whiskey production, launching Slane whiskey in 2017 which marked the first foray of American spirits company Brown-Forman (Jack Daniel’s, Woodford Reserve) into the Irish market. Triple casked in extra virgin oak, The Legacy of ’81 is a nod to their rocking roots. Just 2,928 bottles of this 45% ABV are spinning around.
