As optimistic Dublin weather watchers confidently predict the continuation of summer sunshine and al fresco dining well into September, veggie lovers seeking an alternative to traditional meats at BBQs can now avail of a brace of new plant-based options thanks to the efforts of vegan entrepreneur Aisling Cullen.
The Thanks Plants founder has devised a meatless ‘NoMoooo Burger’ packed with black beans, pearl barley, fresh carrots, beetroot and mushrooms, alongside some very tasty Chipotle Sausages aimed at those who enjoy their plant based dishes a little bit hotter.
Cullen tells us that the new sausage recipe which features a healthy dollop of Chipotle Salsa sauce, emerged from a collaboration with Tom Gannon and Niall McGrath of Cali Cali, an Irish healthy food brand that specialises in producing a flavoursome food range inspired by its founders’ experience of street food in California.
“Non meat eaters are poorly catered for at barbeques so it’s great to be able to offer them tasty, nutritious products that will work brilliantly with the traditional accompaniments”, says Cullen. “The meaty texture is great and as well as being super high in protein it also has virtually no saturated fat.”
10% of profits from all sales of the limited edition BBQ specials go to LGBTQ+ youth organisation Belong To.
