Two iconic Dublin institutions finally united this summer as baker and creator Marian Kilcoyne joined the ranks of resident indie vendors at the George’s Street Arcade. The recently launched Pepper Pot Bakery carries a stunning selection of freshly baked French and Scandi style pastries, Raspberry Bakewells, Banoffee Brownies and a fine range of classic breads, infusing the much-loved Victorian marketplace with the distinctive aroma of delicious, hot bakes.
Savoury Meat and Veggie pies and Sausage Rolls made with the signature pastry beloved of Pepper Pot regulars can also be found at the stall, while our taste antennae were piqued by the somewhat quirky revamp of the Pepper Pot original sandwich (Pear, Bacon and Cheddar) as a Danish Pastry.
Avid readers of this august publication may recall that this particular sandwich with its ‘cunning amalgam of mustard and mayonnaise,’ featured strongly in our list of The Best Sandwiches in Dublin a few years back, so we’re very much looking forward to sampling this new variation on their tried and trusted classic.
The innovative baker has also been rolling up her sleeves at the nearby Pepper Pot Café, where the new menu in the beautiful atrium of the Powerscourt Townhouse includes sandwiches, salads and lunchtime staples, with coffee by Ariosa. Tuesday to Saturday, 10am – 5pm.
