La Cave remains the true original wine bar in the city. Many’s the time we recollect the descent down their stairs into its plush madness. It’s a room which simply entertains itself and there’s usually a story to be found, lurking close at hand. Rarely do we remember the ascent.
It’s been going since 1987 which means it turns 35 this year making it the oldest boutique wine bar in the city.
La Cave, somewhat like the Trocadero, reminds us of yesteryear in a charming and original way, a form of plush escapism within the city.
