Incoming: Hawksmoor X Dublin

For those wondering what to expect when steak specialists Hawksmoor open their swish new venture in Dublin next year, the kindle edition of “Hawksmoor: Restaurants and Recipes” penned by friends and co-founders Huw Gott and Will Beckett helps provide some insights.

Described as ‘the ultimate bible for booze and beefy perfection’, the publication brings together recipes from all the Hawksmoor restaurants, including a selection of the intricate cocktail spec sheets used by their creative bar team. The book also offers top tips on how to cook big meaty steaks like the Tomahawk to perfection, giving readers something meaty to chew over ahead of their much anticipated arrival in Dublin.

Confirming that their new restaurant will open its doors at 34 College Green in Spring 2023, co-founder Will Beckett said the new Irish venture had been a long time in the making. “We’ve been coming to Dublin for years to spend time in one of our favourite cities for food and drink, always keeping an eye open for a beautiful space. When we saw the former National Bank on College Green, we fell in love.”

According to co-founder Huw Gott a lot of time and thought has gone into the design of the building. “Our goal is to restore it to its former glory, enhance features that have been shielded from public view in recent decades, and enable as many people as possible to enjoy this beautiful historic building.”

The duo say that they hope to restore original features like the banking hall’s grand 40-feet cast-iron dome and ornate plasterwork, while also reinstating elements such as cast iron railings similar to those originally installed in the 1880s.
