The annual one day wonder that is Sheridan’s Irish Food Festival takes place on the last Sunday in September, in an event that sees visitors treated to some fine Irish artisan food and drink at the home of the accomplished cheesemongers in County Meath. The spread includes award winning cheeses, charcuterie, artisan breads, preserves, heritage meats, cider, beer, and locally grown fruit and veg. There’s also food workshops, live music, and children’s entertainment. Admission €5 for adults, children are free, while dogs are also welcome. 10am – 6pm, Sun Sept 24th.
For those who can’t make it to the festival, the following Friday sees founder Kevin Sheridan host a virtual Raw Cheese and Natural Wine event with Enrico Fantasia, a specialist wine importer who is also an expert in old world wines. A fun and educational evening is in store, as the pair conduct a lively exploration of the fascinating worlds of artisan cheeses and fine wines over Zoom.
As part of the experience, participants will receive a lovely selection of cheese, crackers and wines ahead of the event, which sees Kevin and Enrico talk, munch and quaff their way through proceedings, followed by a question and answer session. Tickets €70 plus €5 for shipping to participants.
The session runs between 8pm and 9.30pm on Friday September 29th. Pre-booking and registration at sheridanscheesemongers.com
