Bitesize: Bar 1661

Posted May 12, 2019 in Food & Drink Features

With Ireland’s ancient moonshine enjoying newfound popularity in the cocktail bars of London and New York, the latest addition to Dublin’s cocktail scene comes in the form of a spirited hostelry taking its name from the year that Poitín was first banned here.

The brainchild of Bán Poitín creator Dave Mulligan, Bar 1661 is dedicated to the promotion of drinks native to Ireland, serving beverages ranging from traditional pints of plain to cocktails containing the once illicit spirit.

Forthcoming events include music sessions and tasty food pairings.

1-5 Green Street, off Capel Street.
