The undoubted charm of many of the city’s hostelries has been immortalised in a stunning new series of colourful prints by talented artist and DJ Sarah Rossney.
The artist, who paints city street scapes using acrylic on canvas, and then works with the Copper House Gallery to transform them into print, says that the painting of one particular place – O’Neill’s Victorian Pub and Townhouse – is particularly important to her.
Reflecting on the process of creating the piece in a post on Instagram, the artist said, “It’s crazy how you can start a painting at one stage of your life and finish it at another. Painting this at night kept me sane while my Dad was sick. It kept my mind occupied at a time when I needed distraction. I couldn’t sleep so I painted.”
Dedicating the piece to her Dad, she added, “It will always hold a special place in my heart.” Sarah’s work is available to buy as part of the Design Ireland pop-up showcasing the works of thirty-five artists and brands, which continues at Arnotts until July.
