Darkness and Light | Dia De Los Muertos | Diwali

Posted October 21, 2021 in Food and Drink

As we move towards the twilight of the year, in addition to festivities marking the ancient Celtic feast of Samhain, we’re noticing an evolving focus on other global cultural festivals too.

The India-Ireland Council hosts a civic celebration of Diwali-Festival of Lights on Thursday Nov 4. The event features Irish-Indian music and a visual arts display, as well as an invitation to take home a freshly prepared Diwali dinner by Master Chef Vishal Dara. Meanwhile, over on George’s Street, they had planned to launch into the October bank holiday weekend at  777 by celebrating traditional Mexican festival Dia De Los Muertos with a big Sunday night shindig on the 24th.

The event has unfortunately been postponed for now, in view of the uncertainty about regulations, but we are really looking forward to the day they manage to mark their ninth annual celebration of the event with standing dinner, lots of cocktail specials and prizes for best costumes.
