On Saturday, July 2nd the IFI in Temple Bar is once again throwing open its doors to the public with a day jam-packed with free film screenings and events. Film fans can watch FREE sneak previews, cult classics and archive films throughout the day, and will also have the chance to glimpse behind the scenes at the IFI with talks from the IFI Irish Film Archive staff on the amazing work they do and the opportunity to take a rare trip to the IFI’s projection booth. This year’s free films include previews of Nicolas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon and Pablo Trapero’s The Clan; classics King Kong and Sweet Smell of Success; and cult faves The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and Repo Man.
In a change to previous years, the IFI Open Day will have a NEW ticketing system: film tickets will be released an hour before each film’s scheduled screening time. Simply queue at the relevant desk in the IFI foyer to pick up your tickets (maximum two tickets per person per film) and then enjoy your free movie. Tickets will not be available online or by phone (with the exception of the Projection Tours, which can be booked in advance).
