Director: Boaz Yakin
Talent: Jason Statham, Catherine Chan, Chris Sarandon
Release Date: May 4th 2012
Boaz Yakin is somewhat of a mixed bag when it comes to films. His screenplay for the pitfall Prince of Persia contrast against his directing of the inspirational Remember The Titans will give you an idea of what I mean.
His newest project Safe is a Jason Statham (say no more) thriller in which a young Asian girl (Mei) is being pursued by all sorts of bad guys (gangsters, corrupt cops, etc.) for the numerical code she possesses. Cue Jason Statham (Wright) who interupts the girl’s abduction and becomes her unorthodox protector, hell bent on getting his vengeance on the bad guys who ruined his life.
Somewhat reminiscent of Mercury Rising, another hard-man-cum-genius-child-protector movie, but with a Jason Statham adrenaline-filled flare, Safe (if anything like Blitz) promises to be the fast paced, high octane film we’ve come to expect from the Stath.
