Whilst discussing the rich and evocative soundscape in An Cailín Ciúin, director Colm Bairéad referenced pirate.ie as source material for the sounds of the early ‘80s.
It turns out to be quite the treasure trove – whether that’s Christmas jingles from Capitol Radio in 1980, promos from WLR or LMFM’s Eddie Caffrey on the Green Scene show reminding us there will be ‘No troubles at Bubbles – the in-town disco” in Drogheda and to try out The Four Lanterns who were offering a “large bag of chips for the price of a small one”.
