The film adaptation of Stephanie Myers book, Twilight, is a modern-day love story with an unorthodox twist. It tells of the hybrid romance between vampire and mortal in this Lost Boys meets Romeo & Juliet movie. When Bella Swan (Stewart) moves to the dreary town of Forks, Washington to live with her father she quickly catches the steely eye of Edward Cullen (Patterson). Mysterious and intriguing with cheekbones so chiselled they could take your eye out, Bella quickly falls for Edward’s charms unaware of the incidental fact that he is actually a vampire. After waiting 90 years to find a soulmate, Edward and Bella’s relationship quickly develops into passionate love affair. Despite the fact that Edward is one of The Undead, he is in fact “vegetarian”, meaning that he only feasts on the blood of animals. Despite his family and friend’s overwhelming desire to eat his new girlfriend, all is relatively rosy until a new clan of vampires in town catch on to the couple’s anarchic love and develop a bloodlust for Bella. Edward must overcome his instinctive urge to join James (Cam Gigandet), Laurent (Edi Gathegi), and Victoria (Rachel Lefevre) in their hunt for human blood in order to save the life of his true love in this already cult-status tale of teenage romance and the classic dilemma of head versus heart.
