Based on the best selling novel by Alice Sebold, The Lovely Bones tells the story of Susie Salmon (Saoirse Ronan), a girl who is murdered and now rests in the “in between” where she watches the devestating effect her death has on her family. Her father (Mark Wahlberg) is in denial and obsessed with finding his daughter’s killer, while his wife (Rachel Weisz) is suffering from his lack of support for her. Susie’s sister and those whom she shared the briefest connections with mourn her death but can’t seem to let go.
