Nowadays, the standard of rom-coms is so low that if it doesn’t leave me fuming and offended it gets a tremendous amount of goodwill from me. Killers, fortunately had enough giggles and charm to keep me somewhat appeased. Hitman meets girl. Hitman quits job and marries girl. Past catches up with Hitman. That’s Killers in a nutshell. Heigl is bland as always but she is likeable enough. Surprisingly, Ashton Kutcher is the one who carries the film. He gives a sympathetic, loveable performance and this lends the film some poignancy without falling into the third act sap trap. This film is 100% fluff but Kutcher proves a strong leading man and a pretty cool action hero, which raises this to the status of decent popcorn movie. Don’t expect too much this film and you might just be pleasantly surprised.
