It’s Complicated

It’s Complicated is the kind of film we’ve come to expect of Nancy Meyers, her other most recent offerings being The Holiday and Something’s Got to Give.
Jane (Meryl Streep) has been divorced from Jake (Alec Baldwin) for ten years, but after one drunken night they begin an affair – despite the fact that he’s already remarried to a much younger woman. Things swiftly become complicated, especially after Jane meets nice-guy architect Adam (Steve Martin).
Saved by an admirable cast, Streep is always watchable while Baldwin has fun with a character that could have easily been dismissed as sleazy. The film’s not dreadful, but it’s anything but complicated. Recommended for mothers.
