Extraordinary Measures is the first film to be made by CBS Films, the film division of the CBS corporation. Ironic really, as early reviews of film describe it as an uninteresting endeavour, worthy merely of a TV movie, were it not for the presence of Harrison Ford.
Inspired by true events, Extraordinary Measures tells the story of a John Crowley, a man who is beginning to become successful in corporate America. Backed by a beautiful wife and three children, Crowley suddenly makes the decision to walk away from his success when two of his kids are diagnosed with a fatal disease. Crowley teams up with a brilliant, albeit unconventional scientist, Robert Stonehill (Ford) and together they form a company whose soul purpose is to develop a life saving drug. One character strives to prove his theories, the other to save his children.
