Expect high octane live performances as Wasps vs Humans return to The Thomas House, bringing their anarchic mix of drums, bodhrán, whistles, punk poetry, songs and beats with them.
Their debut album,
Scratchcard Empires released in October features singles,
20 million Andrew Tates,
Price You Pay and
Ugly America – a dark take on life’s expectations, dealing with disappointment, inner city crime, an obsessive fame craving culture, with a huge dollop of desperation.
Initially a solo project, WvHs punk poet/drummer, Carl Antony Plover has shared the stage with legendary acts such as John Cooper Clarke, The Fall, Whipping Boy and Christy Moore. In the 80s, he released an album and single as part of Avant Garde band 4,000,000 Telephones. In more recent times, WvHs have honed a distinctive punk/folk sound, having partnered up with musician Linda Plover over the last year.
The evening sees Wasps vs Humans joined by very special guest and one of Irish Hip Hop’s finest,
Captain Moonlight. Never one to avoid saying what’s on his mind, the Kilkenny rapper, writer, producer and political vomit inducer tackles serious issues, with a dash of punk, a swing of a hurl and a folk horror narrative, creating intelligent, hard-hitting, often humorous hip-hop. Captain Moonlight 2.0 is currently in the midst of recording his forthcoming album,
Offences Against The State Act 1, due for release soon.
