Warpaint are back with a new studio album this month. And the first slices, especially Champion, from Radiate Like This point to promising things from their dreamy shoegazer indie pop with an edge. The LA four-piece, who will 20 years in existence next year, remain perpetually plugged in, even in the six years since Heads Up. DIY Mag informs us that, “Drummer Stella Mozgawa has racked up a slew of session credits with The xx, Sharon Van Etten, Tracey Thorn and more; bassist-singer Jenny Lee Lindberg has worked with Deap Vally and appeared on Phoebe Bridgers’ Punisher, while singer-guitarist Emily Kokal has collaborated with Saul Williams and started a family. As for Theresa (Wayman), well, she’s put out a solo album (2018’s LoveLaws), launched an underwear line, and been confirmed to star in the forthcoming film adaptation of Kenneth J. Harvey’s novel, Inside.” So, if you do end up chatting to them after the gig just don’t question what they’ve been up to!
