Giita Hammond’s exhibition View from the Sea is a photographic/video project Giita made during the first year and a half of Covid, while swimming in the sea at the 40ft and Sandycove. In a time of restrictions, swimming in the sea with her three friends and documenting her swims became the antidote; freedom and an abandonment of rules. The connection Giita had with the women she swam with was vital to the project and to her mental health during this time. View from the sea includes videos, seascapes and portraits of the women she swam with.
