The LAB Gallery in Foley St, D1 hosts Swimming a Long Way Together, an exhibition by Dublin-based long-distance swimmer and visual artist Vanessa Daws, curated by Rosie Hermon. The ambitious art and swimming project celebrates open-water and endurance swimming, its history, and its communities. The exhibition is inspired by the pioneer swimmer Mercedes Gleitze, the first British woman to swim the English Channel in 1927.
After launching on the River Liffey, the project has travelled the island, visiting Midleton, Co. Cork, Donaghadee, Galway, as well as Brighton and Dover in England. The exhibition concludes on November 22, 2024.
