Ireland’s hip-hop scene is one of the country’s most creative at the moment, and Bobby Zithelo’s new documentary UP NEXT takes you right to the heart of it and the challenges its artists face, from the struggle to build an audience to the struggle to protect local spaces against lawmakers and developers’ Celtic Tiger redivivus project to turn the entire country into a hotel. It’s getting its premiere showing at the Sugar Club, in an evening that doubles up as a celebration of the scene. Dena Anuksa, Malaki and NUXSENSE perform live, there’s a listening party for FYNCH‘s new EP Bookies Pens & Loose Ends and hip-hop duo Tebi Rex in conversation with music writer Cailean Coffey. The event is presented by Soul Doubt Magazine, with early bird tickets at 2 for €15.
