To commemorate the 100th year anniversary of the death of rebel fighter Thomas Ashe, the Thomas Ashe Community Group has organised a series of events throughout Lusk, on Saturday, September 30.
The centenary celebrations will take place from 11am, as a procession from begins from Corduff National School, where Thomas Ashe held the position of principal, to Round Towers GAA grounds. This will be led by Black Raven Pipe Band and the 5th Battalion Group. The all-day events will range between sporting events, a screening of the brilliant “Fingal’s Finest”, historical talks, music events and the unveiling of a Thomas Ashe sculpture to honour the rebel’s legacy.
The day-long event is an interactive and exciting way to get involved with the history of Fingal and Thomas Ashe, as community groups come together to celebrate his life.
