Conducted by David Milne with guests Catherine Redding, Soprano; Niall O’Sullivan, Trumpet and David Leigh, Organ the concert is the flagship event of the wonderful
Culture Date with Dublin 8 Festival which runs that same weekend. The programme of popular choral pieces has lots to offer the audience on the evening.
The selection has been chosen from their extensive repertoire over 70 years, it includes beautiful works such as Mozart’s ‘Ave Verum Corpus’, Bruckner’s ‘Locus Iste’, Rheinberger’s ‘Abendlied’, and Fauré’s ‘Cantique de Jean Racine’, along with works by Bach, Handel, Haydn, Gjeilo and Whitacre.
In addition to these many wonderful choral pieces, they tell us that three special guest artists
Niall O’Sullivan on trumpet,
Catherine Redding, soprano and
David Leigh on the organ will fill the cathedral acoustic perfectly.
The Choir is also delighted and proud to give the first performance of ‘The Weaver’ by
Judith Ring. This setting of a poem by Diane Tierney was specially commissioned by The Guinness Choir with the support of the Arts Council as part of their 70th Anniversary celebrations.
The concert is supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media, and Dublin City Council.
